What is it and what is it for?

In this post we tell you what it is, but above all we explain how to create a webinar. Webinars have been around in digital marketing for years.  Currently, given the global confinement situation, they are more relevant than ever. Not only are they not out of date, they have come back as the best weapon for your brand strategy.

A webinar as the name implies is a webinar. That is, a conference broadcast in real time over the internet.

“The differential value of a webinar is its interactivity, receiving and sending feedback in real time”

Unlike a normal event,  the webinar manages to connect the speakers with viewers around theworld. It offers the possibility to all users to discuss, send and receive information in real time.

Unlike a normal event,  the webinar manages to connect the speakers with viewers around the world . It offers the possibility to all users to discuss, send and receive information in real time.

Why do a webinar?

Webinars are the ideal format for presenters and attendees and  can be held anytime, anywhere.  Here are the main reasons why a webinar is beneficial for your brand:

  • Location: You can give your seminar from anywhere to people who, in turn, can attend from any location . Your home, office, or the place you choose can become your event room. Just set the date and time!
  • Costs: You save travel expenses. Accommodation, space rental or any other expense that involves giving a seminar in person. You no longer have to worry about the coffee break!
  • Interactivity: You can communicate with hundreds of people anywhere in the world. Also, not only your audience can ask questions and get immediate feedback.  The speaker can also interact with the public and adapt content to demand in real time.
  • Engagement: The webinar is a live event.  If your audience is late or can’t make it, they’ll be sorry they missed it. As much as it is recorded, it is not the same as participating in it. This is the most important feature that this format offers.  Achieving a firm commitment from the public with the brand.

What do you need to organize a webinar?

Logistics is very important when organizing your webinar. It is getting easier and easier but you must have the following basic elements:

  • For attendees: internet access and headphones.
  • For the presenters: a computer with a good internet connection. Speakers, a camera, a microphone and a good tool for conducting webinars.

In order to organize your webinar, it is no longer necessary to install additional software or have special equipment . What is important is to find a good tool with which you feel safe in its interface.

What are the best tools?

There are many tools on the market, some free and others subscription. Everything will depend on your goals and the results you want to obtain so that you prefer to use one or the other.

Here I leave you the tools that I consider most relevant for their accessibility, functionality, price and services. Remember that webinar tools are constantly updated, so I advise you to always check the changes in their service offer before subscribing to any plan.

  • ClickMeeting : it has different plans with very competitive costs that vary according to the attendees you want in your webinar. As its main features, it lets you customize the registration of attendees, keep track of the statistics of your event and record your seminar.
  • Go to Webinar : It is one of the best known, it has different plans that vary both by capacity and by webinar organizers. Its main features are the delivery of integrated reports on attendees, the conduct of surveys and integration with services such as Go to stage.
  • Livestorm : Ideal for all types of companies, its different plans vary according to the capacity of attendees. It uses WebRTC and websockets technology very good for real-time interactions but can be a bit more difficult to handle.
  • Zoom : Without a doubt the most used in this time of pandemic. Their subscription plans reach up to 10,000 viewers.

How to create a webinar that works?

You cannot improvise when creating a webinar. If you really want it to work and help you achieve your goals, you need to plan well. Take into account all the steps to follow, both before and after the event.

Here are my recommendations when organizing a webinar:

  1. What to do before?
  • Objectives: before starting, plan what you want to achieve with this strategy. Set clear and measurable objectives Do you want to get leads, conversions, notoriety?
  • Topic: Select the topic well, which is of interest to your target audience.
  • Target: segment your audience, remember that not all content is for everyone, the more defined it is, the more loyalty you will achieve with your brand.
  • Date and time: choose the date and time with your audience in mind and not you.
  • Design: give your webinar your own style, invitations, typography, colors count when it comes to attracting attendees
  • Promotion: Have a dissemination plan ready for different channels and for a defined time. Share your event through social networks, invite your blog subscribers, make ad campaigns through the networks where your audience is, make strategic alliances: collaborating media, industry influencers, etc.
  1. What to do during?
  • Content: Always offer valuable content, use bibliography and reliable sources, news and news relevant to your topic. Filter content or comments that do not add value.
  • Structure: Organize your webinar dynamically, combine one or more monitors, remember to have a close and personalized treatment with the attendees. Plan a space for questions or surveys.
  • Time: Set a specific time for your presentation. Above all, plan a time for interaction, it is important that attendees feel involved, remember that your event is a virtual room from which attendees can leave at any time.
  • Plan B: always have a plan b, a slide or an image in case there is a technical failure during the broadcast of the event.
  1. What to do after?
  • Thank you: Send a thank you email for attending your event. Share extra content or unpublished material on the topic presented.
  • Chat history: Save all questions and suggestions discussed during the webinar. If possible, try to send a personalized response to the attendees’ concerns.
  • Leads: Take advantage of all the leads obtained and try to retain them with more relevant and exclusive content for them.

The use of webinars in the HEALTHCARE sector

In the healthcare industry, staying current is absolutely imperative. In the current context, COVID-19 is rapidly changing healthcare , and organizations must be at the forefront of this change and chart the course for what is to come.

The use of new technologies helps to improve and streamline processes, in this case, communication through webinars opens up collaboration barriers between organizations, healthcare professionals and patients.

In the healthcare field, webinars can be used to address different areas , such as sales, case analysis and clinical trials, rules and regulations, education, among others. And above all, its use is wide and can be used by different players in the sector such as managers, sales teams, professionals and patients.

Position yourself as an expert in your field

Webinars are a powerful weapon in digital marketing , as we commented at the beginning of this post, this is a format that generates commitment from your audience. To attend a webinar, the user has to register, put the date on their calendar, reserve time for the event, show up at the correct time, and then give you 1 to 3 hours of their time.

That is why the use of webinars within your marketing strategy is very effective, whether for generating leads, sales, training, or all of the above. Remember that human beings don’t like to take risks, so people are more likely to buy from who they trust.
